My subject matter is the landscape and I set out to capture the natural beauty, light and colour of my surroundings here in the West of Scotland. My landscape paintings come about through familiarity with a particular subjects, being open to being continually transfixed by the same views and landmarks, and by becoming immersed both physically and metaphorically in the landscape.
And all had, after long acquaintance, at last understood that familiarity with a place will lead not to absolute knowledge but only ever to further inquiry.

Paintings at rest
A longstanding passion for painting really came to the fore in 2017 when I finally picked up my brushes and began painting full time.
Working from my studio in Glasgow and en plein air, I visit and revisit local haunts including nearby Kelvingrove Park and further afield on the West Highland Way to capture the particular beauty and moods of our evocative Scottish landscape.
